Former college athlete Pete Burak likes to ask guys a simple question: “Are you in the stands, on the bench, or in the game?” It’s a metaphor that resonates with many Catholic men.
“If you’re in the stands, he’s inviting you into a relationship with him,” he says. “If you’re on the bench, he’s inviting you into the mission field with him. If you’re in the mission field with him, he’s inviting you to stay and go deep.”
Wherever you land, Pete’s message is the same: God is inviting you closer, not judging you for where you are.
